Carnival Guys

I may not be a guy (although I sometimes like to dress like one) but I know enough of them to understand their frustrations when it comes to ‘dressing up’ for special events. With this and my love for menswear in mind (I was meant to be a boy, so perhaps that explains it) I was pretty excited about styling fashionably fun menswear for spring racing.

When it comes to menswear I always here males saying “there aren’t that many options for guys because there’s just the usual pants, jackets and shoe options”.  Not necessarily… the difference is all in the details!

When attending formal events such as a wedding or spring racing there is a formal dress code that needs to be followed, although not everyone stick to it (I have seen people turn up to red tie events in jeans -no no no!) but if you want to be allowed into the event, looking sharp (us ladies love that!) then you really need to make an effort when choosing what to wear.

Sure you can pop on a boring old black suit, or you can try something different. So what can you wear that makes you stand out from the crowd?

Well first let me say that there’s a heap of amazing and local designers and brands in Australia (see full list of those featured in the shoot below), so you don’t have to look too far to find something fantastic!

Secondly and most importantly, like with any other day that you put on clothes (and I’m assuming that you don’t walk around naked, unless you’re living at a nudist colony) it’s not what you wear but how you wear it.

You would be amazed at how different you can make an item of clothing look just by the way you put an outfit together.

Gentlemen… don’t be afraid to have fun with fashion this spring racing, it’s a carnival after all!

Happy Cup Carnival!
